About the project
Trick or Treatment
Trick or Treatment is a free informational platform that helps you understand what scientific evidence exists for a given medication. We search public databases of clinical research and present findings in plain language without marketing, without opinions, and without medical advice.
How it works
You enter a drug name
Brand name or international nonproprietary name (INN) in any language.
We search research databases
The platform searches PubMed and Cochrane Library, the two largest public databases of peer-reviewed clinical studies, for randomized controlled trials, meta-analyses, and systematic reviews.
AI analyzes the evidence
Claude (Anthropic) evaluates the quantity, quality, and consistency of found studies and assigns an evidence grade from A to D.
You get the result
A grade, a plain-language summary, and links to the original publications so you can read them yourself.
Our sources
PubMed — National Library of Medicine (USA)
The world's largest database of biomedical literature. Free, publicly accessible, maintained by the US National Institutes of Health.
Cochrane Library — Cochrane Collaboration
An international network of researchers specializing in systematic reviews, the gold standard of evidence-based medicine. Cochrane reviews are among the most rigorous analyses of clinical evidence available.
Evidence grades
High level of evidence
Multiple high-quality RCTs and meta-analyses consistently confirm effectiveness.
Moderate level of evidence
Some quality studies exist, but evidence is limited in quantity or consistency.
Low level of evidence
Studies exist but have methodological limitations or conflicting results.
Insufficient evidence
Evidence is lacking or does not support the claimed effectiveness.

Disclaimer
Trick or Treatment is an informational platform. We do not provide medical consultations and do not replace the advice of a qualified healthcare professional.
The information presented should not be used for self-medication, or for changing or discontinuing a prescribed treatment without first consulting a doctor.
Our ratings are based on publicly available scientific evidence at the time of the search. They may change as new research becomes available. We do not evaluate the safety of medications, only the quantity and quality of evidence of their effectiveness.
Results are cached for up to 30 days. The grade may differ from future searches if new studies are published in the interim.
